RTK stands for Real Time Kinematics. It uses a network of reference stations to send correction data to your GNSS receiver in real time. Standard GPS gives 3โ5 metres accuracy. RTK delivers 1โ2 centimetres. It's the same technology used globally in precision agriculture, professional surveying, and high-end drone mapping.
When a full RTK fix is achieved, RTKSA delivers horizontal accuracy under 2 centimetres and vertical accuracy under 4 centimetres. This is consistent, repeatable accuracy โ not a best-case number. It's the level of precision required for auto-steer farming, cadastral surveys, and survey-grade drone mapping.
You need a GNSS receiver that supports RTK and NTRIP. Most modern precision agriculture guidance systems, surveying receivers, and RTK-capable drones qualify. Compatible brands include Trimble, Leica, Topcon, Sokkia, Emlid, and many others. Contact us with your equipment details and we'll confirm compatibility.
Yes โ RTKSA delivers corrections via NTRIP over the internet. Your receiver needs an active data connection (typically a SIM card or mobile hotspot) to receive the correction stream. Standard LTE is sufficient in most South African farming, surveying, and construction environments.
No โ that's the whole point. RTKSA's network replaces the need for your own base station. A traditional base station costs R60,000โR120,000 to buy and requires you to move it every time you change location. With RTKSA, you subscribe to the network and receive corrections wherever you are within coverage.
RTKSA is for anyone who needs centimetre-level positioning in South Africa. Primary users are farmers using auto-steer and precision guidance systems, drone operators doing survey-grade mapping, land surveyors and GIS professionals, and construction and machine control operators.
Once subscribed, we provide NTRIP credentials โ a server address, port, mountpoint, username, and password. You enter these into your receiver's NTRIP client settings. Most receivers connect in under 5 minutes. Our team provides full setup support and can walk you through configuration.
RTKSA is currently live in Gauteng, the Western Cape, and KwaZulu-Natal. We're actively expanding into the Eastern Cape, Free State, Limpopo, and other provinces. If your area isn't covered yet, contact us to register your location โ we prioritise expansion based on demand.
NTRIP stands for Networked Transport of RTCM via Internet Protocol. It's the industry-standard method for streaming RTK correction data over the internet to GNSS receivers. It's been used globally by surveyors and precision agriculture professionals for over 20 years, and is supported by virtually all modern RTK receivers.
